The United States Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, is seeking highly qualified attorneys to serve as trial attorneys in the Chicago office.
Tucker Ellis LLP has announced that Ashley Brandt has joined the firm’s business department as a member of its corporate/M&A/securities practice group in Chicago.
Brandt serves clients as outside counsel across a variety of industries, with a particular focus on alcoholic beverage-related and cannabis businesses. He counsels alcoholic beverage clients across the tiers including breweries, distilleries, wholesalers and retailers, and restaurants. He also represents dispensaries and growers in the evolving cannabis and hemp field.

Donald William Kahn, age 73, of Libertyville, passed away Oct. 5, 2020. Don is survived by his wife of 48 years, Baiba; his children David (Erin), Caroline (Frank) Murray and Matthew; and his grandchildren Liam, Evan, Lyla, Jack, Everett and Jacob.
Age 83, passed away September 29, 2020. He was born in Chicago and longtime Joliet area attorney. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eileen; six children, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation for Brad E. Bleakney, 64, of Hawthorn Woods, will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service, 2:00 pm at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL. Due to COVID a luncheon will not be provided, refreshments will be provided on site.

Campaign season for the 2021 Illinois State Bar Association election began October 1, for open leadership seats of third vice president (outside Cook County) and one seat each for the following Board of Governors seats: Area 1 (Circuit 18), Area 6 (Circuits 7, 8, and 9), and Area 8 (Circuits 3 and 20). There is also one Board of Governors seat in Cook County. There are 26 open seats for Cook County Assembly.

The ISBA honored Section Council and Committee awardees for the 2019-2020 year. Although there was no in-person ceremony this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several recipients were presented their awards from ISBA President Dennis Orsey and ISBA Past President David Sosin at various locations throughout the state.
