    Lauren Boaz Becomes Partner at SWMK Law

    Lauren Boaz was named a partner of SWMK Law as of July 1. She is the first of the firm’s attorneys to become partner since their founding in 2012. Founding partners of the firm are Ben Schmickle, Steve Wohlford, Matt Morris, and Joe Kusmierczak.

    SWMK Law specializes in mesothelioma and asbestos lung cancer litigation, and has a nationwide client base. Boaz leads the SWMK team that seeks recovery for mesothelioma clients from bankruptcy trust funds.

    Hon. Terence F. MacCarthy Retires

    Having helped create and having served fifty years with the Federal Defender Program, Terence F. MacCarthy is officially retired on June 30, 2016.

    The Chicago Defender Office, the first Federal Defender office, is considered a model office. Since 2009, it has been ably run by Carol A. Brook. Since its inception no staff attorney has ever been held in contempt nor has the office been found to have rendered ineffective of incompetent representation. The office proudly has two district court judges and has had five federal magistrate judges, and many state court judges.

    Three suburban Chicago law firms announce merger
