    DuPage County Attorney Ninnette Gregory joins the Law Office of David W. Clark, P.C.

    The Law Office of David W. Clark, P.C., has announced the addition of attorney Ninnette Gregory to the firm.

    She practices personal injury law, workers’ compensation law, commercial litigation, and limited scope representation in civil cases.​ ​​Gregory has more than two decades of experience in a wide variety of litigation and transactional legal work. She devotes significant time to serving pro se litigants and providing pro bono legal services, including helping low-income clients at the Ask a Lawyer Legal Aid Clinic at the DuPage County Courthouse.

    Three Cook County Circuit Court Judicial Vacancies Announced

    Applications are now being accepted for judicial vacancies in the Thirteenth Subcircuit, Seventh Subcircuit, and First Subcircuit of Cook County, according to an announcement made by the Illinois Supreme Court.

    The vacancy of the Thirteenth Subcircuit judicial position was created by the resignation of Circuit Judge Margarita Kulys Hoffman. Judge Kulys Hoffman had served as a judge since 2006. Her resignation took effect Dec. 31, 2017. 

    The vacancy of the Seventh Subcircuit judicial position was created by the retirement of Circuit Judge Marianne Jackson. Judge Jackson had served as a judge since 1997. Her resignation took effect Dec. 31, 2018. 

    The vacancy of the First Subcircuit judicial position was created by the death of Rhonda Crawford on April 26, 2018.

    ISBA Offices Closed Wednesday, January 30

    The ISBA's Springfield and Chicago offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 30 due to inclement weather. The State and Local Tax CLE event will start at 9 a.m. as previously scheduled on Thursday, Jan. 31. All other ISBA services will resume at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.

    Drumke Nominated to ABA Board of Governors

    Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP, partner Michael W. Drumke has been nominated to the American Bar Association (ABA) Board of Governors (SOC) for a three-year term that will commence following the conclusion of the ABA Annual Meeting in August.

    Drumke’s practice focuses on trials involving complex business litigation matters, including toxic tort, product liability, pharmaceutical, class action, and commercial litigation. He serves as national trial counsel in mass tort litigation across the country and has served as national coordinating counsel for manufacturers in asbestos-related litigation and lead counsel for several premises owners named in toxic tort litigation in the Midwest.

    File Your Nominating Petitions for ISBA Election by Thursday, January 31

    The deadline to submit nominating petitions for the ISBA election is Thursday, Jan. 31, at 4:30 p.m. at either the Illinois Bar Center, 424 S. 2nd St., Springfield, or the Chicago Regional Office at 20 S. Clark St., Suite 900, Chicago.

    Members of the ISBA will elect a third vice president, 11 seats on the Board of Governors, 45 seats on the Assembly in Cook County, and 88 seats on the Assembly outside Cook County.

    One board seat is open in each of the following Areas: Area 2 (Circuits 17, 19 and 22), Area 4 (circuits 10, 14, and 15), Area 5 (Circuits 5, 6 and 11), Area 7 (Circuits 1, 2 and 4), Under Age 37 in Cook County, and Under Age 37 outside Cook County. Additionally, five seats are open in Cook County.

    Roetzel & Andress Names Michael Scotti III to Lead National Business Litigation Practice Group

    The law firm of Roetzel & Andress has named attorney Michael Scotti III to lead the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group.  

    Based in Chicago, Scotti joined Roetzel in 2015. He concentrates his practice exclusively in the area of complex commercial litigation and provides corporate and strategic advice to the firm’s clients on risk management issues. Scotti previously was a Partner at Freeborn & Peters for 15 years. For over 25 years, he has been representing companies and high-net-worth individuals in business litigation.

    Attorney Jennifer Bunker Skerston has joined the law firm of Reilly Law Office, LLC as partner. As a result of this partnership, the name of the firm will now be Law Offices of Reilly & Skerston, LLC. 

    James T. Reilly founded Reilly Law Office, LLC in 2006, and the practice has focused on civil and criminal litigation, Social Security disability, and family law. Since joining the firm as an associate in 2017, Skerston has added estate planning and administration to the firm’s areas of practice.

    Mercer Cook, 88, was born May 31, 1930, in Washington, D.C.

    He was a graduate of Dunbar High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College, and received a J.D. from the University of Chicago. After college, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris.

    Champ W. Davis, Jr. 1940-2019

    Champ W. Davis, Jr., 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at home in Oak Brook.

    Born in Springfield, Davis attended the University of Illinois, earning a bachelor’s degree in general engineering and his J.D. at the College of Law, where he served on the Law Review and was admitted to the Order of the Coif. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
