The ISBA Standing Committee on Women and the Law hosted "Celebrating Laughter in the Law Luncheon" on March 8 at Maggiano's in Chicago. The program featured Dr. Gail Stern, Co-Owner and Chief Academic Officer at Catharsis Productions.
The ISBA Young Lawyers Division hosted a Wine Tasting on Feb. 26 at the Chicago Office. Young lawyers enjoyed networking over hors d’oeuvres from Pastoral and wine from Vin Chicago.
The John Marshall Law School, Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Judges Association and Justinian Society of Lawyers hosted "The Distinguished Professional Service Joint Dinner" on Feb. 25 at the Standard Club in Chicago.
The Whiteside County Bar held its monthly meeting on Feb. 24 at the Candlelight Inn in Rock Falls. ISBA President Umberto S. Davi was the featured speaker. Illinois Supreme Court Justice Thomas L. Kilbride, ISBA 3rd Vice President James F. McCluskey and Whiteside County Bar President Michelle Buckwalter-Schurman were also in attendance. ISBA member Trent Bush served as the event organizer.
The Black Bar Association of Will County hosted its Barrister's Ball "Night of Stars" on Feb. 20 at the Clarion Hotel in Joliet. ISBA President Umberto S. Davi and ISBA President-Elect Vincent F. Cornelius attended the event.
The Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC) installed Cecilia Horan as its new president. Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis and celebrity chef Art Smith served as special presenters.
The ISBA Bench and Bar Section hosted a Civility CLE and Reception at the Chicago Office on Feb. 10. Panelists included ISBA President Umberto S. Davi, Illinois Supreme Court Justice Lloyd A. Karmeier, ARDC Administrator Jerome Larkin and LAP Executive Director Robin Belleau. Cook County Judge Jeanne M. Reynolds served as moderator.
The Illinois Bar Foundation hosted a Lake County Fellows Reception on Jan. 28 to honor attorneys Deborah Goldberg and Bernard Wysocki for their leadership and dedication to the law. The proceeds from this event help the Foundation further its mission to ensure meaningful access to the justice system, especially for those with limited means; assist lawyers who have fallen on hard times; and provide legal Fellowships to recent law school graduates.

McCluskey attended the recent ABA Midyear Meeting. This event helps ISBA leaders represent the interests of Illinois lawyers and network with other bar leaders to stay up on challenges to the profession.
